Be an Example in a Generation That’s Losing Its Way
“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come…” – Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NIV)
This is the heartbeat of the Cameroon Baptist Convention Youth Department (CBCYD)—to raise a generation of God-fearing, disciplined, and purpose-driven young people who will not forget God in the noise and temptations of this age. The CBCYD is not just about youthful fun and fellowship; it’s about preparing young leaders who will stand firm for Christ and transform their communities.
In an era where many youth are chasing after fleeting pleasures and corrupt ideologies, the CBCYD boldly declares:
“Now is the time to remember your Creator!”
Your Youth Is Not Just a Season—It’s a Calling
Young people often think they’ll get serious with God later. But Scripture calls us to seek Him now—while we have strength, energy, passion, and time. The decisions made in youth shape the course of life.
“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.” – Psalm 119:9 (NIV)
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)
The CBC Youth Department teaches that youth is not a time to waste, but a time to worship. A time to dig deep foundations of prayer, obedience, and personal holiness. Youth are not the church of tomorrow—they are the living church of today, already commissioned by Christ to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13–14).
Flee Sin and Embrace Holiness
In a world filled with temptations, particularly sexual immorality, the CBCYD teaches that purity is power and holiness is freedom. God calls every young man and woman to flee from every form of sin and to keep their bodies, minds, and spirits consecrated for Him.
“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually sins against their own body.” – 1 Corinthians 6:18 (NIV)
“Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace…” – 2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT)
Sexual immorality, dishonesty, drugs, rebellion, gossip, and laziness are all traps of the enemy. The CBCYD trains youth to recognize these traps and stand firm with the Word of God, prayer, and godly community.
You are called to be set apart, not conformed. You are chosen to lead, not follow the crowd.
Hard Work and Discipline – Biblical Traits of Godly Youth
The CBC Youth Department encourages every young person to be diligent in studies, skill development, and service. Laziness leads to spiritual and physical poverty. But God rewards effort, excellence, and dedication.
“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.” – Proverbs 13:4 (ESV)
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” – Colossians 3:23 (NIV)
CBC youth are taught that true success begins with integrity and hard work, not shortcuts and compromise. Whether in school, church, or community, they are called to stand out—not with pride, but with purpose.
Obedience to Parents – A Command with a Promise
In a time when disrespect toward parents and elders is becoming common, the CBCYD reinforces the biblical importance of honoring parents and authorities. This is not just a cultural value—it is a command from God with a powerful promise attached.
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’—which is the first commandment with a promise—‘so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.’” – Ephesians 6:1–3 (NIV)
Obedient children attract God’s favor. CBC youth are reminded that humility and respect unlock doors that talent alone cannot open.
CBCYD: Raising a Generation of Purpose, Power, and Purity
The CBC Youth Department—especially in the Yaoundé Field—is actively building a dynamic youth movement grounded in the Word of God. Through:
- Youth Revival Programs and Spiritual Emphasis Weeks
- Bible Study Groups and Prayer Cells
- Leadership Training and Talent Development
- Evangelism, Outreach, and Social Impact Projects
- Youth Camps, Music, and Drama Ministries
Young people are being transformed, empowered, and released to live out their faith boldly and serve their generation.
You Are God’s Choice for This Generation
The world may be dark, but you were born for such a time as this. Like Daniel, Esther, David, and Timothy, you can shine brightly in a culture of compromise.
“The people who know their God shall be strong and do exploits.” – Daniel 11:32b (KJV)
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength…” – Isaiah 40:30–31 (NIV)
You were not created to fit in—you were chosen to stand out.
A Final Charge to Every Youth
Young man, young woman—remember your Creator now. Not later. Not when you are old. Now.
Let your life speak louder than your words. Be an example. Be a disciple. Be a voice of righteousness in this generation.
“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth…” – Ecclesiastes 12:1 (NIV)
Let this not just be a memory verse—let it be your mission.
